Dream: For the voices of the youth of Suai to be heard all over the world

Mauc has expressed a dream to set up a Veterinary Clinic in Suai. He will be completing his Phd in Veterinary Science and returning to Suai in 2010. A Group could be set up of people wish to assist Mauc to achieve his dream.
If somebody starts this group they need to establish their mission with Mauc. Mauc is fluent in English and, as you can see if you read his page, Mauc is studying in Perth so he has good access to the Internet. I would like what ever we do on Suai Media Space to benefit the Media Group in Suai. So I hope that the first step would be for Mauc and Ergilio to write a short script about why Suai needs a Veterinary Clinic and ask some members of YoMaTre to make a short video. Another SMS Group of scriptwriters and filmmakers might be formed that could help them with this. When it is complete it can be posted on this Network and in the Suai Media Space which is to be re-designed this year to make it more lively.

Any takers? Suggestions? You can always put up a photo of your favourite pet or animal.

Hi Jen,
Thanks for putting forward my dreams in this media.
I think the clinic "if it's to be exist one day" it should be based in Dili, and then extent it's activities to Suai and possibly other districts. There main reason for this is that I have worked commintment in Dili, i.e. I'm tied up with teaching agriculture students at National University

A few friends from agriculture coledge in Suai (SPP Akar laran) have requested me sometimes ago to share some knowledge with their students in "Akar Laran". If this dream is realised, the students of agriculture coledge in particular would benefot from it.

This vet clinic is to be establish like a trust fund, for example we can call it " veterinary clinic trust fund".
Hi Mauc,
That's okay it's a pleasure.
Oops my mistake. I can your work commitments in Dili could make this difficult for you. I am a bit concerned if I spread my efforts and the efforts of my networks to the needs of people in Dili it will fail. Others in Canberra are working for Dili perhaps they could come on board to help? Did you know there is a 'Friends of Dili' network? Is there some way you can shape the project in stages or create a small model, so that the people in Covalima and their animals can benefit from the efforts of the friends of suai media space network? Can you see a way that work could help you to build a movement towards building the clinic in Dili later down the track? This project is really all tied to media skills - I bent it a bit to fit your aspirations by tying it into YoMaTre making a story about why Covalima needs veterinary assistance. Why don't we wait and see if we get some other responses here? Before that it's all academic isn't it? Just for interest, if a Trust Fund was set up, who would be responsible for it? kind regards, Jen
Hi guys!

Wow Mauc: congratulations for your dream! I truly hope you can accomplish it :)
Tell me more about it: do people have pets in Timor?
I know that people don't take care of the dogs as the westerners do... But I have seen a LOT of people carrying the lovely chicken MANU FURAK on their lap, everywhere!
Anyway, bibi and carau always need the hand of a veterinary. I know someone in Dili - a portuguese friend - who has done something related with vacination in Fuiloro. Tell me if you want her contact! She probably knows about vet clinics in Timor... (she will have a baby in a few weeks and I guess she will be offline for a while...).

About Dili vs Suai, I understand your point: you have a scholarship and after you go back to TL you must teach at UNTL for 5 years, right? Anyway, I think it is possible to start some work in Suai at the same time... like starting to train someone to help you with that in suai... or going there once a month to do the treatments...

Good luck!
